In Linux every work session is started introducing a user name and a password. The machine is prepared to start the session automatically with the following credentials:
For certain administrative tasks the system may request
again the user password teleco to verify that you have
the right permissions. In this case, the password to use is
teleco
.
From now on, to distinguish the two machines we will talk about the “physical” or “host” machine (your personal or lab computer) and the “virtual” or “guest” machine (the one executed by VirtualBox).
Whenever you work with the virtual machine, you must take also these aspects into account:
The virtual machine uses the keyboard and mouse of the physical machine. If the virtual machine does not allow the use of the mouse and keyboard in the physical machne, to return the control of these devices to the physical machine, you must press the key that is shown in the right bottom corner of the virtual machine (in this case the “Right Control”, or the Control key in the right side of the keyboard.
If needed, the screen resolution can be adjusted using the monitor shape icon in the panel.
It is recommended to shut down the virtual machine as you do with the physical one, that is, using the shutdown menu. If the window in the physical machine is closed, a menu pops up to select the type of event to send to the virtual machine to finish.
If at some point the file
TELECO_EN.ova
is corrupted, the machine may be
rendered useless. For this reason, we recommend that you keep a copy of
the virtual machine in its initial state and all your files managed with
the version control platform that will be studied in the future.
